Aunt Mona made this beautiful quilt and brought the finished product down for us to see. Then her next project was to sew together the quilt top made of bright colored children's material...it turned out super cute! Then she started ANOTHER project! I've never seen someone do so many things in one weekend! She cut out an entire quilt in one day! Aunt Mona is a pro...she goes home on her lunch hour and sews!! She even helped me finish my project!
This is one of mom's projects. It's called "Funky Monkeys". The story of 5 funky monkeys jumping on the bed, one fell off,...you get the idea. It is going to be super cute when she gets it all finished. Mom also cut out an entire quilt top and had material for infant recieving blankets. I'm not sure if she got them sewn together, though. The blankets will be really cute when she finishes them. When we got to grandma's she had all of these blocks sewn together. She soon realized she had sewn them incorrrectly!!! We all pulled out our seam rippers and ripped out the stiching so grandma could put her project together correctly! Here she is in her sewing room cutting blocks to be re-sewn back together. Needless to say, she sews like me sometimes!! Our projects took a lot longer than everyone else's.
So, here's my project...it took ALL weekend to do! The cutting out and sewing together of the strips was the easy part. The thing that hung me up was these little triangles that were supposed to be on the ends of the rows. That's what supposedly gives the table runner the slanting effect. Let's just say I HATE triangles. Aunt Mona suggested I just take them off and just cut the table runner to shape. Boy was that tons easier! After I was all done I was really proud for making this all by myself. I've decided my next project will only involve squares!! I can handle those!!!!
Mom found dad and Dakota outside on the roof. Grandpa needed the yard light fixed and enlisted dad for the job...since dad is now an official member of the City of Goodland's Electrical crew. Dad goes out with the line crew once in a while and does electrical things around town. Dad also took on the job of plumber during the weekend when the stool backed up and overflowed. Grandma and grandpa's sewer backed up a little so dad fixed that for them as well. Oh, did I also mention the roof leaked during the heavy down pour we had on Saturday? Dad, Dakota, and Grandpa are all up in the attic when it was lightening and thundering, trying to figure out where the rain is coming in at!! Dad sure had an exciting weekend, too!
