Man Land

Just a little update on "Man Land". It rained this weekend so now I'm going to have to get out this week and mow my lawn. I've been trying to put it off as long as I could. Suprisingly my tulips are still bluming (it was down to 32 degrees last night)! What is up with this weather? I had to turn my heater back on today for a little while to take off the chill in my house. Despite the cool weather, my friend Britt and I went for icecream at DQ Saturday. One can never say no to a dish of icecream shared with a good friend!!!!

So, the ceiling in my basement still has missing tiles and dad has been really busy at work and has been unable to get back down here to finish up this little project. Last night I had a dream that my house started falling apart. It started in a closet where the wall was paper thin, then the floor started deteriorating and I could see right into my basement!! I sure hope this isn't a premenition!!!!!! Yes that is a tuppeware container in the second picture. Do you suppose this was God's intent when he created the person who invented tuppeware? All I can say is "Thank you God for Tuppeware." I was instructed by dad to "find the biggest container and put it under the pipe since it is leaking." So I did as I was told!!! I can happily report, though, the pipe has not leaked since then.

Today I renewed my RN license, so I'm safe to practice for another couple of years. This little license is rather expensive, though!!! Oh, did I mention I'm being audited on my CEUs, though? Yea, I get to be the lucky one! All I have to do is send in copies of all of my CEUs to the KS Board of Nursing, so I don't think it will be as bad as being audited by the IRS!!! I also made Tater-tot cascerole tonight; it is the best recipe ever, so I'll be sure to post it for you. Doesn't it look yummy?

Spring Is Here.......Almost!!

The first signs of spring have sprung! But the forecast for tomorrow is "cold and wet" , only a high of 45. I'm so ready for summer weather!
I just love this time of year when every thing is new and coming to life. I picked my first batch of tulips yesterday before the faithful Kansas wind beat them to a pulp. Driving around town today I noticed all of the trees are starting to bud and bloom, too. I really can't wait until I can get into my garden and start planting my flowers. I look forward to my wild flowers coming up, too!


So, I'm not one to pay much attention to the products I'm purchasing for "human consumption" Case in point, the picture above. Are pizza's supposed to be SQUARE??? How do you cut a square pizza? Do you go corner to corner, or do you cut it like a brownie? What a delima I had, and I only had 15 minutes to decide!!!! I opted for the corner to corner method, because it most closely resembled a "regular" slice of pizza. For those of you that know me, I'm kind of a creature of habit! This particular pizza is a thin crust, meat, Digorno pizza. I must admit it was pretty tasty; I do recommend this pizza.

One more thing, here's my "tag" info:

1. 10 years ago I was: 15 and driving a red Buick (I think). This car left me stranded on more than one occasion, one being in front of the HS; so I choose to forget this car! Ha!

I once broke out my tool kit in an alley to take off my muffler! My weakness is carrot cake. I once made a late night run to Wal-Mart with my room mate for a new toilet handle.

A FRIEND IS.........

The way my week has started out, I needed a little laugh. My grandma sent this to me and it made me giggle. It's entitled, "A Friend Is Like A Good Bra... " Hard to Find, Supportive, Comfortable, Always Lifts You Up, Never Lets You Down or Leaves You Hanging, And Is Always Close To Your Heart!!! This made me think of the definition of friendship given by Bob Kuhn: "Friendship is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you know the warm feeling it gives you!" So, what's your friendship definition ?

Where did the week go?

So, I haven't posted in a week! It's not because nothing is going on, it's because I've been keeping busy. Last Monday was terribly busy at work, and I didn't get home until 9:45! Tuesday and Wednesday I got off work early and ended up going to bed way early both nights (a sure sign that I'm definately getting older). I spent Wednesday evening with my bible study girls. These are the greatest group of girls!!! I'm so proud of them! We are currently studying a series by Andy Stanley called, "Life Rules". It's a fantastic series about how to get along with other people, how to forgive others, how to engage in a life with others around you, etc. Thursday it rained ALL day. I'm thankful for the moisture, but when the heavens open up and pour down rain it tends to make me a little nervous. I'm always afraid I'll have a repeat occurance of last year's "Mrs Noah's Ark" experience. Thankfully, I didn't have any rain water leak into my basement. The first thing on my "to do list" when the weather warms up is to finish filling in the gap along my house and foundation. There's a section I didn't get to last year that most definately needs my attention this year. On Friday I ended up working the early shift at work, so I could get off early to attend Bob Kuhn's Celebration of Life service that evening. It was a great service, filled with many wonderful memories of Bob. He was a great Christian man and will certainly be missed. Saturday was spent catching up on my missed sleep; THANK YOU GOD FOR SATURDAYS!!!


Currently, I don't have any "fix-it" projects going. I'm getting really anxious to get out and get some flowers planted. I have a feeling it's going to be summer before this happens! I may have to start mowing my lawn soon, all the rain really started the growth of my grass. Owning a home is not so much fun sometimes!!! What a blessing

Earlier this week our church family learned that Bob Kuhn had been put on Hospice care, and is awaiting his "Home Going". For many of us Bob is a wonderful friend and a great inspiration. On many occasions he has shared his trials and battle with cancer during communion time. Most recently he spoke on God's forgiveness and how it expands as far as the east is from the west. On another occasion, Bob shared his experience with getting approved for a new cancer medication through the VA. He spoke of when he usually went for an appointment he had to park a great distance from the building, (a daunting task for someone who is suffering with lung cancer) walk across the building to the office, and end up seeing multiple doctors or having to wait many hours to even see a doctor. On this particular visit, he turned over the appointment and the drug trial to God, knowing things would go according to HIS plan and not Bob's. When Bob arrived, he had a close parking spot, rode the elevator right up to the doctor's office, got right in for his visit, and much to Bob's surprise, the drug had already been approved...so Bob wouldn't have to wait for the trial medication! Bob so eloquently spoke of how God took care of all of his needs, all he did was show up! One of the great lessons I've learned from Bob has been how faithful he is. There is no doubt in my mind he will be greeted in Heaven and God will say to him, "WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!!"


In show of our support and love for Bob, many of the church members met at Bob and Cindi's house this afternoon to hold a prayer service for them. Their friend came out and stated "Bob is concerned that all of you are ok. He wants you to know that he loves you and he is praying for you." This, to me, is the greatest example of Christ-likeness. As Bob awaits his moment to meet his Father, he is praying for his fellow Christians!! Here's my question to you, will you pray for your fellow man? Will you do as Bob has done and model a Christ-like behavior? I challenge you to daily answer the call to be a Good and Faithful Servant of the Most High.
